If the Coyote still wanted to catch the Road Runner in 2018, what technologies would be the choice in the era of Amazon, Internet, Social Media and Donald Trump?
Acme Systems is the result of a project based on the American animated cartoon Wile E. Coyote & The Road Runner and linked with the Master Thesis Le Coyotisme: Wile E. Coyote, personnage de cartoon, genius et designer de l'echec.
From 1949 the coyote has been trying to catch the road runner using an endless number of gizmos provided by a company named Acme Corporation. The result of all of his attempts is always the same, failure!
As we live in an era of entertainment it seemed suited to use cartoons and their aesthetics as an approach to design objects through which to question current issues such as the notion of truth and social media.
Following this methodology Jean-Marc produced three different gizmos:

Si Wile E. Coyote voulait toujours attraper Bip-Bip en 2018, quels types de technologies utiliserait-il à l’ère d’internet, des réseaux sociaux, d’Amazon et de Donald Trump?
Acme Systems™, est une installation et une performance basée sur le cartoon de Bip Bip & Coyote et qui fait suite au Mémoire de Master Le Coyotisme: Wile E. Coyote, personnage de cartoon, genius et designer de l’échec.
Dans ce dessin animé créé par Chuck Jones en 1949 pour la Warner Bros., le coyote a pour seul but de capturer l’oiseau Bip Bip pour le manger. Pour cela, il a recours à quantité de gadgets fournis par la compagnie Acme Corporation. Qu’importe l’objet utilisé, le résultat de toutes ses tentatives est toujours le même, l’échec!
Alors que nous vivons dans une ère de divertissement il a semblé pertinent d’utiliser les cartoons et leur esthétique pour designer des objets à travers lequel interroger des problématiques actuelles telles que la notion de vérité sur les réseaux sociaux.
Suivant cette méthodologie Jean-Marc a conçu trois différents gadgets :
Acme Wall-Builder Genius Kit (The yellow helmet)
Cartoon: Mr. Coyote likes to use gadgets inspired by Superheroes.
The today’s technologies or references: An American antihero whom not only wears that right clothes, but calls himself a genius! Just like our dear Mr. Coyote!
The solution: A mash up between Trump’s quiff and a builders helmet, the Acme Systems Safety Yellow Helmet will give the Coyote the power to build walls in the desert!
Failure: Actually, walls never stopped anyone, even a bird that does not fly.
Acme Wall-Builder Genius Kit (Le casque jaune)
Cartoon : M.Coyote aime utiliser des gadgets inspiré par les Super-héros.
Technologies ou références actuelles : Un anti-héros américain qui non seulement porte le costume mais qui se qualifie lui-même de de genuis ! Exactement comme notre cher M.Coyote !
La solution : Un habile mélange entre la coupe de cheveux de Trump et un casque de chantier, L’ Acme Systems Safety Yellow Helmet donnera au Coyote le pouvoir de construire des murs dans le désert !
L’échec : En réalité les murs ne stoppent jamais personnes, même un oiseau non-volant.

Acme iGotit Selfie Stick (The blue wing)
Cartoon: The Coyote is forever running after the Road Runner and never manages to catch it.
The technologies or references of today: The Selfie Stick, Social Media such as Facebook or Instagram and the associated notions of truth.
The solution: Selfie Stick with the handle in the shape of the Road Runner tail to give the illusion that you have finally caught it. With this gadget, just put your smartphone on it, choose the right angle and the right background, take the right attitude and take a selfie! Then share it on your favorite social media with a catchy hashtag like #igotit.
Failure: What failure!
Acme iGotit Selfie Stick (L’aile bleue)
Cartoon : La course sans fin du Coyote derrière Bip-Bip.
Technologies ou références actuelles : La perche à Selfie, les réseaux sociaux tel Facebook ou Instagram et les notions de vérité qui y sont associés.
La solution : Une perche à Selfie avec un manche en forme de queue de Bip-Bip afin de donner l’illusion que vous l’avez enfin attrapé. Placez votre smartphone sur le gadget, choisissez le bon angle et arrière-plan, Prenez l’expression qu’il convient et faites un selfie! Ensuite, partagez le sur votre réseaux social favoris avec un hashtag accrocheur tel #igotit.
L’échec : Quel échec?

Acme Deus Ex Machina Button (The red button)
Cartoon: Every time the Coyote falls off the cliff desperately goes through the Acme catalog trying to find a way to smooth its fall.
Today’s technologies or references: Amazon creates the Acme Dash button, a button designed to quickly order a specific regular product like shampoo or toothpaste. Get it faster, get it by drone.
The solution: Keep the idea of the Amazon command button and transfer it to a recurring Wile E. Coyote need, even better if it’s urgently needed. So, with Acme Deus Ex Machina Button, you just have to press it while you fall from the cliff to get a parachute thanks to a lightning drone delivery; all just before hitting the ground!
Failure: Actually, when you fall off cliffs you normally panic and when you panic you are likely to press the button too many times… it will not be useful to have 10 parachutes falling over your head. Sometimes perfect is the enemy of good!
Acme Deus Ex Machina Button (Le bouton rouge)
Cartoon : Chaque fois que le Coyote chute de la falaise, il consulte alors désespérément le catalogue Acme en essayant de trouver un moyen d’atténuer sa chute.
Technologies ou références actuelles: Amazon a créé le Amazon Dash Button, un bouton conçu pour commander instantanément un seul produit spécifique tel que un shampooing ou du dentifrice. Obtenez-le plus rapidement, obtenez-le par drone.
La solution : Garder l’idée de l’Amazon Dash Button et le transposer à un besoin récurrent de Wile E. Coyote, encore mieux si c’est un besoin urgent. Avec l’Acme Deus Ex Machina Button, vous n’avez qu’a presser le bouton durant votre chute pour obtenir en éclair un parachute livré par drone; juste avant de s’écraser au sol !
L’échec : Eh bien lorsque vous chutez d’une falaise vous avez tendance à paniquer, et quand vous paniquez vous pressez le bouton trop de fois… Et ça ne sera pas plus utile avec 10 parachutes au-dessus de votre tête. Parfois le mieux est l’ennemi du bien !
